The Author's Excursion around Minsk, led by the well-known Art Director Tatyana Bembel, was prepared specifically with the participants of the marathon in mind, many of them visiting Belarus for the first time. Most know likely nothing or very little about the capital of the sovereign nation of Belarus - perhaps only that during the USSR years it was one of the largest Soviet cities.
The tour will be narrated in Russian and English. Participants, who likely visit various capitals around the world, will experience Minsk in an unforgettable way. An important part of this fascinating story will be the "Tango"-aspect: It turns out that Minsk is not only a hero city of various wars, but also a city where people have always danced. Many stars of the Tango Universe are connected to Minsk, but few know it; the tour will set the facts straight.
As the marathon involves 2 days and 3 nights of dancing, a lot for anyones feet, the tour is with a bus with only short walking excursions at select locations. One of these is the upper floor of the Hotel "Belarus", a restaurant with panoramic views of the heart of the city - right beside the river Svisloch, where the city was founded. During the lunch participants will hear stories about the history of the ancient city.
The tour will take place a short time before Minsk celebrates its 950th anniversary, and on September 8th it will be possibly to see a balloon festival above the city. The main venue for this special city tour will be the Independence Avenue. A cascade of beatiful squares, significant buildings, and other architectural objects strung through Minsk like a pearl necklace. Special attention will be paid to the story of Minsk as one of the most luxorious cities in the world in terms of the amount of greenery and trees per inhabitant. The bus, for the international guests of the Minsk Tango Fusion, was ordered with a reserve a seats for those still wishing to join the tour.
