| This tour will start from the Yubileiny Hotel*** - Minsk, 19 Pobediteley Ave. The legendary castles, picturesque landscapes, the oldest religious buildings - Orthodox, Catholic, Muslim, Jewish - could serve as scenery for a historical film! You will see such a paramount importance of the monument as the ruins of the NOVOGRUDOK CASTLE - the first grand duke's castle on the territory of Belarus, which began to be rebuilt in stone and brick in the 13th century by the Grand Duke, and then the "King of Lithuania" Mindovg. From the castle hill offers an incredible view of the surroundings! And at its foot is the CASTLE OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE LORD, laid by the Grand Duke Vitovt at the end of the fourteenth century; here in 1422 Vladislav Yagailo was married with Princess Sophia Golshanskaya, which marked the beginning of the reign of the Jagiellonian dynasty. During a tour of the cozy streets of ancient Novogrudok you will also see other ancient temples of the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries, among which the most valuable is the Orthodox Church of BORIS AND GLEB of the 14th century...
The rich past of Novogrudok was brilliantly reflected in the poetry of its famous native Adam Mickiewicz - children's and youth's years of the poet were held here. A visit to the HOUSE-MUSEUM of A. MITSKEVICH will leave a strong impression due to the rich exposition about this poet of universal glory ... The Barrow of Immortality near Zamkova Mountain is also dedicated to Mickiewicz. And next is the picture gallery of KONSTANTIN KACHAN, a modern Belarusian artist. Inspection of the exposition, music, aromatic coffee and tea will be the successful completion of acquaintance with Novogrudok ... LUNCH at the restaurant.
Drive to LIDA. Lida is known for its brick fortress, built nearly seven hundred years ago (1323) by Gediminas, the Grand Duke of Lithuania whose grandson Jogaila celebrated here his wedding with Sophia of Halshany hundred years afterwards. Excursion and performance in the castle will allow you to immerse yourself in the fascinating events of the past and archery and sword-fight will bring you a lot of unforgettable impressions.
